Delivering Results for over 25 Years

Why settle for anything less? Cyclone is our flagship product - an all-in-one powder that packs a powerful punch. Typical to form, a new consumer will often try Max Whey or Promax as the first option, but as with many others, quickly move on to its bigger brother, Cyclone. Since 1995, Cyclone has been and still is our number 1 selling product. Let nutritionist, Gareth Nicholas, tell you all about it. Why it has stood the test of time and how it could help you.

Cyclone over the years

It’s always great to hear those past stories from consumers talking about when they used to use Cyclone. Over 2 decades it’s more than likely that you would try other products, but one that you should definitely put back on the list, is Cyclone. With continued innovation and advances in food technology, we believe that Cyclone is the best! But if we can make it better, then we will, and with our latest upgrade we have.

Today’s Cyclone is a 100% whey only protein powder, with an unbeatable improved protein blend (54% Whey Protein Isolate, 42% Whey Protein Concentrate and 3% Whey Whey Protein Hydrolysate) to support muscle growth and development. We weigh each of the amino acids per 100g of protein, which gives a true protein content. Something that isn’t widely conducted or shared by other protein powders.

"Many of my clients want to look and feel good. Of course we talk training, but I'm also asked about supplements and my number 1 recommendation has to be Cyclone. Maximuscle have taken out the guess work, providing a great tasting protein powder that really works." Dan Lambert, Maximuscle Ambassador and Personal Trainer.

What's in Cyclone and Why?

Being an all-in-one Cyclone contains a synergistic group of ingredients, along with protein, that will help improve and develop your muscle strength and power. Cyclone is high in protein, low in fat and sugar with added active ingredients.

Let’s talk about the macros, per 60g Cyclone is 201 kcal, 12g carbohydrate (1.6g sugar), just 1g fat (0.7g saturates) and 31g Protein (of course there are minor changes to this, based on flavour). The avoidance of sugar and added carbohydrate is often a must, but this is added to Cyclone for: energy support, assist nutrient absorption and for taste. You are training hard, so the added carbohydrate is a good thing. The main source of carbohydrate is from maltodextrin, although some is naturally present from the protein sources and flavours.

Cyclone also contains added glutamine; the most abundant amino acid in the human body. Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid, meaning that its naturally produced within the body. Glutamine is found in a range of protein sources, in meat, plant source and of course dairy, such as whey. Often referred to as a conditionally essential amino acid, because the body can find it difficult to contain the increased glutamine turnover. But what makes Cyclone an all-in-one?

Three to watch

Cyclone has three ingredients that are added exclusively to stimulate a physiological response. These ingredients are Creatine – 5g, Calcium HMB – 1.5g and Zinc – 2.5mg (per serve).

1. Creatine

A non-essential dietary compound that is scientifically proven to increase high intensity repeated bouts of exercise and therefore performance. In layman’s terms, creatine gives you the ability to do more of the hard stuff, repeatedly. The more you do, the greater the gains. Creatine supplementation helps rapid rejuvenation of the immediate energy source, Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) – that energy source used in high explosive movements, such as Squats. For more on creatine, check out section on our ingredients section on Creatine.

2. Calcium HMB

Beta-Hydroxy Beta-Methylbutyrate is an active metabolite of the essential amino acid Leucine. Leucine is possibly the ‘superstar’ of all the amino acid with its role in protein synthesis. HMB is actually made naturally within the body through oxidation of leucine, albeit only a small amount. It can also be found in certain foods, such as avocado and asparagus, but again only in small quantities, therefore for larger amounts, supplementation is the preferred option. HMB unlike creatine doesn’t have an approved health claim, although it still remains a favourite in those wishing to improve muscle mass. Slightly aside, HMB is prescribed to cancer and HIV/AIDS sufferers to support wound healing and defence against muscle wastage. Click here, for more information on how HMB works.

3. Zinc

A dietary mineral that is essential for a healthy wellbeing. Zinc is typically prescribed when an individual is suffering with a known deficiency. Zinc along with other minerals and vitamins is lost in sweat and urine, which is heightened with physical activity. Many food sources, such as organ meats, red meat, seafood, dairy, nuts, seeds and legumes, all contain zinc. Animal food sources are better than plant-based ones, due to the bioavailability and absorption. Zinc plays a number of roles within the human body, but perhaps most pertinent to exercise is:

  • Zinc contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism
  • Zinc contributes to normal protein synthesis
  • Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, nails and skin
  • Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood
