Just thought Id write in to thank you for restoring my faith in training and, perhaps more importantly, supplements.
Many years ago, (whilst still in school) I decided that Id have enough of being pushed around, had enough of feeling inadequate in sports and had enough of avoiding my reflection. It was time to do something about it. So I started taking drugs. Not the smartest move I could have made huh? But it did at least allow me to avoid facing up to the effort required to make any real changes in my life that would boost my self-esteem.
Then I discovered supplements. Right about the same time I met someone who introduced me to martial arts. So I started training in Aikido and Tae Kwon Do. The Tae Kwon Do was quickly dropped; after all, lack of exercise and the tolls taken by the drugs did not leave me in the best of shape for such a demanding sport! I continued with the Aikido and I continued with the build huge muscles in just a few weeks by drinking 3 pints of milk mix slurry a day!! Needless to say I got nowhere but I did at least get there quickly! I became disillusioned with the supplements; they werent pulling magic out of a hat for me at all! My training was becoming erratic and I slipped slowly into the same patterns as before. No self-esteem, embarrassed to go to the gym, too embarrassed to face my sensei and back to drugs!
I continued this cycle for many years. Indeed I think I became a bit of an expert on weight gain supplements! Due to the excesses of my lifestyle I found it very difficult to maintain my weight at an acceptable level. I fought for most of my adult life against being underweight. This isnt something you read about too often where men are concerned all the magazines go on about how to lose the flab. But what about those of us who would love to get some extra weight, even if it was flab it would be a start!! I finally gave up on the supplements altogether well almost. I did occasionally indulge in the ready made tins of meal replacement that are cropping up all over the place. Not the good ones of course, but the rubbish you get from corner stores that gives you wind! Not nice. I was training fairly regularly, in fact in my final year of university (yes I did make it that far at the age of 25!), I was going in 4 or 5 times a week! But I still didnt manage to get where I wanted to be. Depressing to say the least but I was getting used to this.
Then I read an advertisement for a Maximuscle product called "Progain". On the face off it seemed to make all the same claims as every other weight gainer . Or so I thought. The one thing that seemed to stand out was the fact that this company backed up it claims with references to scientific articles. Given that I did a psychology degree, I was well used to researching journal articles and decided to do a little digging. Oh my God! A company that had some kind of science behind its claim! Ok lets give it a go I said.
This was unquestionably the best move I have ever made. Since then I have tried a number of Maximuscle products and my only regret so far is that I cant afford more! However, its the training advice given on both the website and in Natural Training that Works thats really made the difference. Thanks to this advice, and the help with my diet, I can now proudly say that Im fitter and stronger than I have ever been. At 36 years old I am (apparently!) the envy of many of my friends in their early 20s. I am about to start Aikido again and I am in the gym 3 times a week. I feel great and, according to my 24-year-old girlfriend, I have a fantastic physique. I am proud to look in the mirror, which in itself is an amazing feat!
So thank you Maximuscle for helping me make the best of myself. I look forward to a long and happy association.
