Stuart started his Cricketing career at the age of eight following in his father footsteps, England opening batsman Chris Broad. At the age of 17 and a height of 6ft 6in, Stuart started considering life as a fast bowler. He began his country career at Leicestershire CCC in 2005 before returning to his place of birth to represent Nottinghamshire CCC for the beginning of the 2008 season.
Stuart's Honours:
In 2005 Stuart represented the England at Under 19 level, impressing the England selectors throughout to earn his place in the England ‚ squad the following year. During this transition, Stuart picked up the Cricket Writers' Club Young Cricketer of the Year.
The summer of 2006 saw Stuart selected for England One Day International side against Pakistan. He has picked up over 130 wickets in just over 70 matches to date, enjoying tours in South Africa and Australia.
Stuart made his full England debut in 2007 against Sri Lanka. He has played over 30 tests for England since then, taking over 100 wickets and contributing +1000 runs with the bat. During this time, Stuart has enjoyed being a vital member of the victorious 2009 Ashes squad, where he won man of the match in the fifth Test at the Oval.
His bowling was also instrumental in helping England win the 2010 ICC World T20. As a batsman, he holds the second-highest ever Test score made by a number 9 after his 169.
