if you play tennis

Step 1 - Fuel your workouts

promaxmealbarsPromax Meal Bars Eating 5-6small meals a day provides your body with a constant fuel supply. Skipping meals may leave you feeling lethargic as your body is lacking the required nutrients for energy. Eat balanced meals containing complex carbohydrates, protein, good fats and fibre. The addition of quality carbohydrate drinks will give you the fuel required to sustain a high level of intensity over 5 sets and/or frequent training sessions. Carbohydrate drinks allow you to delay fatigue and recover effectively before, during and after training/matches. Viper is a superb formula that can be sipped on during training/matches for noticeable increases in stamina.

Step 2- Stay hydrated

viperViper Training causes you to sweat and lose water. Not replacing this water will cause dehydration. 2% dehydration has been shown to impair physiological and performance responses. Also, subjective perception of alertness and ability to concentrate were reduced. This will have a huge impact on the accuracy of your shots. As tennis is played at a high intensity and for a long duration, often in the summer, players are at an increased risk of dehydration. Research shows optimum hydration to be from a weak carbohydrate drink (isotonic: 6-8%) solution with electrolytes.

Step 3- Recover effectively

recovermaxRecoverMax With the frequency of training sessions and matches it is essential to maximise recovery. Immediately after you finish, your body requires carbohydrate to refuel and protein to repair the muscles. A 3:1 ratio as used in Recovermax, has been shown to be the most effective in restoring muscle carbohydrate levels (glycogen) and addressing muscle damage. A serving of Recovermax ensures you are ready for your next match; this is particularly relevant when playing in a tournament with frequent matches.

Step 4- Improve mental focus

recovermaxRecoverMax Branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) have been shown to prevent mental imbalances that cause mental fatigue. Tennis requires intense concentration for long durations, so it is essential to remain focused throughout a match. Viper contains BCAAs, as does our whey protein product, Promax. For products that could give you mental and physical boost, try Viper Extreme (drink, caps or bars).

Step 5- Minimise chances of injury

achefreeAche Free There is nothing more frustrating to make great progress only to get injured. It can set your training back weeks or even months. Tennis may be a non-contact sport, but the frequent and rapid changes in direction place a large amount of stress on the joints. This is especially relevant for those that play on grass or hard courts. These impacts may not have an immediate affect but can build up over time. Ache Free, Maximuscles’s potent glucosamine formula, includes ingredients to strengthen cartilage, reduce inflammation and smooth the working of the connective tissues.
