What are you main nutritional tips?
Eat healthily year round and avoid bulking up. Eat 5 or 6 meals a day with protein at every meal. Consume at least 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight and use a good quality whey like Promax to increase your overall protein intake.
To lose body fat, stick to complex carbs like oats, sweet potatoes, brown rice, fruits and vegetables, and reduce carb intake in the evening.
Grill your foods such as chicken and steak to reduce the fat content. Don’t eliminate fats completely but consume the healthy omega 3 fats as found in fish, nuts, and Maxi-EFA products.

What style of training do you prefer to follow?
I train 3 days on, 1 off. Day 1 is back and chest, day 2 is legs, day 3 is arms and shoulders. I train in alternate fashion, which means completing a set for one body part before switching to a set of another body part, then repeating.
I perform 2 or 3 exercises per body part, with 2 sets to failure, so it’s pretty low volume. It’s high intensity to failure, but not beyond. I don’t use forced reps or negatives as I feel this can trigger over-training for the natural bodybuilder.

How long have you been using Maximuscle products and have they helped?
I have been using Maximuscle products for nearly 5 years. They have definitely helped because in that space of time I went from an amateur bodybuilder in 2002, to winning the British overall title and turning pro in 2003, and finally winning the WNBF pro world title in 2006, the pinnacle of the sport in natural bodybuilding. Without Maximuscle in my corner, I would not have made the same rapid progress during those years.

What are your impressions of Maximuscle?
From an informed athlete’s perspective I would say Maximuscle are the UK’s most successful, recognised and trusted sports nutrition company. Quality, reliable products, that mix well, taste good, and deliver results.
Are there any particular areas that you think Maximuscle excels at?
Aside from the quality of the products, Maximuscle does a great job promoting the sport, their sponsored athletes and leading the market for sports nutrition. I particularly like their catalogues, ad campaigns and website updates which are always professional and informative.
