It is true, it does!
Many articles over many years have been published about how to grow muscle size, lose weight or tone up, but the reality is that there is just no substitute for hard work!
As nice as the idea of the miracle pill, the miracle powder or the miracle machine doing it all for you just doesn't exist. With a combination of exercise, diet and nutrition you can achieve the shape and size you want.
Muscle and muscle development is a simple process of tearing down the core fibres through training, which then during rest repair themselves bigger and stronger. It sounds worse than it really is, and happens all the time without you ever realising. Protein is the foundation of muscles, and making sure you have the right level of protein in your body will help you ensure you can not only develop muscles effectively, but it will also prevent them from damage and help them to recover faster. The reason Promax is the UK's best selling protein powder is due to the unique blend contained within. It utilises a special mix of whey protein isolate, concentrate and hydrolysed to produce a formula that is absorbed in to the body faster, allowing for quicker results. This is key, especially post training when your muscles need it most.
Before the understanding in nutrition, top sports people like rugby players and footballers relied on pure skill or size to carry them through the game, but with the development of the professional era and a greater understanding of the need to look after every aspect of the body and muscles, modern athletes incorporate all the latest tricks and advice to get them in to shape.
No longer do you see the "up your jumper" style of rugby from the 70's and 80's where a big front row forward literally hid the ball and trundled up the park, now it is a game of elite athletes combining speed, power and strength. The new age sports people from grass roots all the way through to top class want to enhance their natural capability, and introducing sports nutrition is another way to do this.
However the need for muscles and muscle development does not lie solely with the athletes of this world, and nor is nutrition solely for those who know what they are doing. Everyone can benefit from the simple principals and benefits of a balanced diet, exercise and nutrition, and get the required muscle nutrients to better themselves. Whether in a rehabilitation concept for muscle re-growth, to easing the aches and pains of old age, or simply just to make you more capable of walking round the shops, playing with your kids in the garden, and getting up the stairs, everything we do involves our muscles in some form. So why not help yourself by looking after them? We are advised to not smoke to improve our lungs and reduce the risk of cancer, and take regular exercise and to reduce our cholesterol by eating less fatty food to protect our heart, and to not drink in order to preserve our liver, but not often if ever are we advised to protect our "muscles".
However without muscles, we can't exercise, we can't stimulate the heart; in fact we can't do very much, so let's start looking after them better. How would we get to work every day to earn money to pay the bills? How would we enjoy time with our families and loved ones if we could never leave the house? and how could we enjoy activities if we are not able to move? They are integral for everything from improved sporting performance to simple tasks of walking and ultimately enjoying life!
So in summary, muscles really do rule the world.
